CLASSES:

BEADS ON MAIN PRESENTS BASIC STRINGING

Beading Level: Beginner
Cost: $30
Class Duration: 2 to 3 hours
Class Size: Maximum 12

Description: This class is designed to guide the beginning beader in understanding the materials and tools used for basic bead stringing. Two stringing techniques are covered in this class:

1. Stringing with silk or nylon type thread - this requires the beader to finish the ends of their piece off with bead tips or clam shells.
2. Stringing with flexible coated wire - this requires the beader to finish the ends of their piece off with special crimp beads.

The price of the class includes:
- 3 feet of flexible wire
- Four crimp beads
- 2 yards of silk or nylon string
- 1 needle
- 2 bead-tips
- 4 clam shells
- Instruction, assistance, and the use of all tools for the duration of the class

Both techniques will be practiced in class. Class participants will then construct their choice of a necklace or a bracelet using one of the techniques demonstrated and practiced in class. Bring your own beads to construct your piece, or purchase beads when you take the class. Examples of possible class projects are available, but the design possibilities are endless.

This class will be offered one Saturday a month from 5 PM to 8 PM (please consult class calendar for dates). Early sign-up is recommended; a $10 deposit is required at the time of sign-up. You may cancel up to 72 hours in advance of the scheduled class time for a full refund of your deposit.

Description: This class is designed to guide the individual in understanding the materials and tools used for basic wire wrapping. The following is covered in the class:

1. Summary of various metal wires and wire gauges; use of eye and headpins
2. Summary of tool use including steel block, mallet, and mandrel with vice, files and sand papers
3. Wire wrapping and the construction of ear wires

The price of the class includes:
- A variety of wires and gauges for practice
- All metals for class project
- Studio time and use of all tools required for the class and the project.
- Instruction and assistance as required in the completion of the project

Class participants will construct a pair of earrings, including the making of the ear wires, using the techniques demonstrated and practiced in class. Bring your own beads to construct your piece, or purchase beads when you take the class (wire and tools are provided with the class). Examples of possible class projects are available, but the design possibilities are endless.

Description: This class is designed to guide the individual in understanding the materials and tools used for basic knotting. This class is taught with pearl knotting in mind, but the technique may be carried over to other beads and stones. The following is covered in the class:

1. Overhand knotting with one piece of string
2. Square knot using two pieces of string
3. Review of bead tips and clam shells
4. Use of French wire
5. Pearl reaming

The price of the class includes:
- Griffin Silk String
- French Wire
- 4 bead tips or 4 clam shells
- Nylon string for practice
- Studio time and use of all tools required for the class and the project
- Instruction and assistance as required in the completion of the project

Class participants will knot a pearl necklace learning one of the techniques demonstrated and practiced in class. French wire can be used to finish off the ends of the project for a clean, professional look. Bring your own pearls to construct your piece, or purchase them when you take the class. Examples of possible class projects are available, but the design possibilities are endless.
